Keene Township collects property taxes for all the area taxing jurisdictions. Some of these jurisdictions elect to have their taxes billed July 1, and some elect to have their taxes billed December 1. For this reason, there are two property tax bills each year.
Summer property taxes are mailed on or about July 1 of each year. Payment may be made without penalty and interest from July 1 through September 14 or the first business day thereafter. After September 14, a 3% penalty is added. A 1% interest per month interest is added beginning October 1. Delinquent summer property taxes for the current year may be paid at Keene Township through February 28.
Winter property taxes are mailed on or about December 1 of each year. Payment may be made without penalty and interest from December 1 through February 14, or the first business day thereafter. After February 14, a 1% interest penalty is added. Delinquent winter property taxes for the current year may be paid at Keene Township until February 28. Payments made on or after March 3, 2026, for REAL property taxes must be paid to the County Treasurer at the Ionia County Courthouse. Please allow 3-4 weeks for the County Treasurer to settle the Township rolls before attempting to contact them for delinquent balances or to make payments on delinquent bills.
