Note – when poor road conditions such as potholes, trees or branches over the road, washouts, or other problems are seen, call the Ionia County Road Dept at 616-527-1700 to report it.
The Ionia County Road Department, at no cost to Townships, mows road intersections on the following basis:
When we receive a call, (616) 527-1700 during working hours, from an individual reporting inability to see a stop sign at an intersection due to vegetation, we send a road worker to take care of it immediately.
During non-working hours, if a stop sign is missing, knocked down, or otherwise not visible, it is an emergency and should be reported to Central Dispatch 911.
When we receive a call, (616) 527-1700, from an individual reporting a problem seeing at intersections due to vegetation, we send an employee to determine if it can be quickly resolved with a trimmer and, if needed, follow up with a tractor and mower as soon as feasible.
We attempt to mow intersections once a year within each township as needed, but try to proceed through the townships in an orderly manner as opposed to hopping among townships, weather and circumstances permitting.
