Voter Registration

The public accuracy test (PAT) for voting machines will be held. — 2025-10-14 @ 6:15 PM

Pre-election hours for receiving absentee ballots will be held. — Saturday, November 1st from 3 to 7 p.m. and Sunday, November 2nd from 2 to 6 p.m.

Requirements

You may register to vote if you are a United States Citizen, at least 18 years old on or before the election day and are a resident of Michigan.

Where to Register

You can register to vote by appearing in person at any Secretary of State branch offices in Michigan or by contacting your Township Clerk or any Department of Human Services agency or specified agencies providing this service through DHS, Department of Community Health or Michigan Job Commission that offers registration services to clients. You can register to vote by mail but if you have never voted before or have never voted in Michigan then you must vote in person the first time voting in Michigan.

Do I Have to Re-Register?

You are permanently registered to vote as long as you live in the Township that you registered in. The Township Clerk can check if you are registered. If you move or change your name then you should re-register in the Township of your residence.

Absentee Voting

Requirements

If you are a registered voter you may now vote by absentee ballot with no required reasons.

Ballots

You can obtain an absentee voter ballot by written request through your Township Clerk. Your written request must include your name, the date of the election, the address where you are registered to vote, the address where you wish to receive your ballot (this must your registration address, an address outside of your jurisdiction or registration, a hospital or some other type of residential institution), your signature and the date of your request.

The completed absent voter ballot must be received by the Township Clerk’s office no later than 8:00 pm on election day.

Campaigning

Campaigning is allowed on election day but must be done at least 100 feet from a door used by voters to enter or exit the building in which the polls are located.
